Kristin Chenoweth Broadway Bootcamp Auditions

An open casting call for students currently in grades 8-11 will take place Saturday, Feb. 25, for the third annual Kristin Chenoweth Broadway Boot Camp, held at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Again this year, Ms. Chenoweth herself will collaborate with the students, offering her insight into the world of performing arts for aspiring entertainers.

“Ms. Chenoweth has a heart for arts in education, as cemented with the formation of the Kristin Chenoweth Arts & Education Fund,” said Mark Frie, Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center executive director. “For this camp, she is creating a unique opportunity for many high school students to further their creative arts aspirations by putting a new twist to its format.”

Auditions are set for Saturday, Feb. 25, starting at 9 a.m. Any student who will be in grades 9-12 in the 2017-2018 school year and is an Oklahoma resident can audition. A limited number of slots are available and the cost to attend the camp is $200.

Broadway Boot Camp will take place June 12-16, 2017, at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center. The camp will teach audition techniques, stage movement and will include one-on-one direct instruction from Broadway, film, and stage industry professionals.

Two lucky students from the boot camp will be chosen to attend the Oklahoma City University High School Musical Theatre Camp in July for three weeks with all tuition waived.

Students must prepare two 32-measure contrasting musical theatre pieces with marked sheet music, as well as a one-minute dramatic monologue. There is no acapella singing or recorded track auditions permitted. An accompanist will be provided. A performance resume and headshot are also requested.

“I am so excited to partner with the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center and ArtsOK; The Regional Arts Alliance of Broken Arrow to help raise awareness for the arts in the city I call home,” said Chenoweth. “Giving back to the community is a privilege and I feel most fortunate to be able to support educational and artistic opportunities in Broken Arrow.”

Last year’s camp saw 40 students learning all about musical theatre while interacting with Broadway professionals via Skype and in person during Q&A sessions. Some of the professionals included an in-person talk back with ABC’s “The Real O’Neals” star Bebe Wood, Skylar Astin from the Pitch Perfect movies and “Spring Awakening” and the one and only Kristin Chenoweth.

Applications for the camp are available online at www.brokenarrowpac.com and must be turned in by Feb. 17. For more information, visit the website or call 918-259-5723.
